§ 11.12.010. Areas affected by chapter designated.

That on the following named and described portions of those certain streets and avenues in the City of Mill Valley, hereinafter described and designated, to wit:

On the northwesterly side of Throckmorton Avenue, between Madrona and Bernard Streets; and

On the southeasterly side of Throckmorton Avenue, between Madrona Street, if produced southeasterly, and Miller Avenue; and

On the southerly line of Miller Avenue, between Throckmorton Avenue and the alley lying between blocks 13 and 21 as laid down and delineated upon the map entitled, "Tamalpais Land and Water Company Map No. 5"; and

On the southerly side of Blithedale Avenue, between Miller Avenue and the Arroyo Corte Madera del Presidio; and

On the northerly side of Blithedale Avenue, between Bernard Street and Corte Madera Avenue; all sidewalks and curbings to be hereafter erected and constructed shall be erected and constructed in accordance with the specifications hereinafter set forth, and not otherwise.

§ 11.12.020. Construction process described—Quality of materials.

All sidewalks upon the portions of the streets and avenues above designated shall be constructed of artificial stone or concrete 10 feet wide and to official grade. The concrete base shall not be less than 3-1/2 inches thick and covered by a top wearing surface not less than 1/2 inch thick.

The material on which the concrete is spread must be well watered, compacted and rammed. The concrete base shall consist of five parts broken stone or coarse gravel and one part cement to one part of fine gravel, hand floated to a smooth and even surface, and marked off into squares. Sufficient lamp black will be added to give the walk a slate color. The surface of the walk shall have a rise of three inches in 10 feet from the curb.

Expansion joints, 1/2 inch wide, shall be put in every 75 feet.

§ 11.12.030. Curbings requirements described.

All curbings shall be of granite not less than four feet long six inches wide and 16 inches deep and set solidly, using concrete, if necessary, for a foundation. All joints to be not more than 1/8 of an inch. All street corners are to be properly curved to a uniform radius of three feet.

§ 11.12.040. Violation described—Nonconforming construction.

It is hereby declared to be unlawful for any person or persons to erect or construct or to cause to be erected or constructed any sidewalk or curbing upon any portion of said portions of said streets or avenues above described and specified except in accordance with the specifications hereinabove contained.
