§ 2.02.010. Purpose.¶
The purpose of this chapter is to establish procedures necessary for the implementation of Government Code § 25208.4, entitled "Expenditures for training and orientation of supervisors-elect." Said statute allows for the expending of County funds for the training and orientation of persons elected to, but who have not yet assumed office as, a member of the Board of Supervisors, including the payment of course fees, travel and per diem expenses, course materials, and consultant services, as the board deems proper and beneficial to the exercise of supervisorial duties by newly elected supervisors.

§ 2.02.020. Request for training and/or orientation.¶
Before payment is authorized for the foregoing, it is required that the supervisor-elect request the training and/or orientation in writing.

§ 2.02.030. Reimbursable expenditures.¶
Upon approval of the request by the board, the supervisor-elect may be reimbursed for the following fees:
Course fees;
Travel and per diem expenses;
Course materials; and
Consultant services.

§ 2.02.040. Budgeting/type of training and orientation.¶
Such expenditures may be made from the Board of Supervisors transportation and travel budget account for the training and orientation provided through County Supervisors Association of California (CSAC), San Joaquin Valley Supervisors Association, Regional Association Meetings, and other appropriate orientation or training as deemed appropriate by the Board of Supervisors.

§ 2.02.050. Procedure.¶
The supervisor-elect will submit to the clerk of the Board of Supervisors a written request to attend training and/or orientation presentations in the same manner and subject to the same procedures as an official member of the Board of Supervisors.
