Chapter 1.20 — CITATION OF VIOLATORS

The following officers, their deputies or employees are authorized to issue citations to violators of all Merced County ordinances provided that a violation thereof shall constitute a misdemeanor: sheriff, and marshal.

The sheriff, marshal, and the following public officers, and their designees are authorized to issue citations to violators of all Merced County ordinances for which the officer or his designee has the responsibility to enforce provided that a violation thereof shall constitute an infraction: chief of the fire department, road commissioner, county planning director, zoning inspector, county health officer, county livestock inspector, poundmaster, director of public works, county building inspector, and other public officers when stated in a Merced County ordinance that such public officer has the responsibility to enforce said ordinance.

The officers, deputies or employees shall be furnished with the proper forms of citations necessary to fulfill their responsibilities in complying with the provisions of this chapter. (Ord. 331, 1956; Ord. 1138, 1984)
