12.08.010 - Definitions.¶
"Carport" or "garage," as used in this chapter, means any offstreet structure or pad which is actually used, or which reasonably may be used, for the storage of a vehicle having four or more wheels.

12.08.020 - Mandatory construction of driveways.¶
It is unlawful for any person or persons who own real property within the city to make, install or construct any garage or carport on any real property within the city without first constructing a driveway from the street bounding said property to said carport or garage. Said driveways are to be completed prior to or contemporaneous with the completion of said carport or garage.

12.08.030 - Standard specifications.¶
Driveways shall extend from the street or streets bounding said property to the entrance of each carport or garage on said property and shall be built according to the "Standard Specifications for the Construction of Curbs, Gutters, Sidewalks and Driveways in the City of Mendota" and in particular those specifications which relate to "Concrete Driveway Approach" and plans annexed thereto. A copy of said standard specifications shall be retained by the city clerk and shall be available for inspection at all reasonable times.

12.08.040 - Minimum specifications for carports and driveways.¶
After the concrete driveway approach has been constructed in accordance with said standard specifications, a driveway to the carport or garage shall consist of:
A. A solid pad no less than nine feet in width, constructed with materials according to the specifications contained in said standard specifications; or
B. Two parallel wheelways, not less than fourteen (14) inches in width, which are separated at a reasonable distance for the passage of automotive vehicle tires on the center of said concrete tireways, constructed with materials in accordance with said standard specifications.

12.08.050 - Violations deemed public nuisance.¶
Any carport or garage kept, maintained or permitted to exist in violation of the provisions of this chapter are declared to be a public nuisance, and such nuisance may be abated or enjoined and the installation causing the same removed, or they may be summarily abated in a manner provided by this code for the abatement of other public nuisances.

12.08.060 - Violation—Penalty.¶
In addition to any other sanctions imposed under this chapter, any person, firm or corporation, whether as principal or agent, or employer or employee, who violates any of the provisions of this chapter, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and each day that any condition or act in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall continue shall be deemed to be a separate and distinct offense, and for each such offense, upon conviction, such party shall be punishable by a fine, not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or more than three hundred dollars ($300.00) or shall be imprisoned in the county jail for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
