§ 10.84.010. Use of non-motorized vehicles.

A. It is unlawful for any person upon roller skates, roller blades, in-line skates, skateboards, or riding in or by any means of any coaster, toy vehicle or similar device to go upon:

  1. Any public sidewalk or street within the downtown central business district Monday through Saturday, during the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. The boundaries of which are defined as the south sidewalk of Ward Street, the west sidewalk of Alhambra Avenue, the north sidewalk of Marina Vista, and the east sidewalk of Pine Street; also, the sidewalk and street areas in the 600 block of Ferry Street.

  2. Any public sidewalk or street in the 500 block of Henrietta Street; the portions of the sidewalk and street directly in front of the following designated locations: 1000 and 1100 block of Ferry Street, 90 F Street, the 2200 block of Alhambra Avenue, the 2200 block of Berrellesa Street, the 400 block of Soto Street upon completion of the Senior Citizen Center), the 800 block of Green Street (upon completion of the Senior Citizen Center).

  3. Any public sidewalk adjacent to property on which a school is located, during the hours the school is open for educational instruction.

  4. And/or any private sidewalk or private driving surface in front of or around any stores or buildings used for business purposes during business hours.

  5. Any property located within the City of Martinez that is owned and/or operated by a school district including high school, junior high school, elementary school, adult education center and the district office, where signs are posted on School District grounds prohibiting the activity. Such signs shall:(1)be placed in a conspicuous area(s); (2) have a dimension of not less than 17 by 22 inches, with lettering of not less than one inch high; (3) state that such activities are prohibited on the property; and (4) cite this subsection number or Municipal Code section. The School District property affected will include the respective parking lots, corridors, hallways, fields, ramps, benches, tables, patios, portable buildings, equipment and the area between structures.
