18.08.010 - Connection charge established.¶
A connection charge is hereby established for the privilege of connecting plumbing facilities to and for the use of the sanitary sewerage system of all sewer maintenance districts presently situated or in the future situated within the county of Marin. The connection charge established by this chapter shall be in addition to any other charges or fees heretofore established for the particular sewer maintenance district.

18.08.020 - Permit for fixtures.¶
Before any addition to or modification of any plumbing facilities are undertaken or any new construction is undertaken which shall result in the change in number of plumbing fixtures by which the amount of the charge is calculated as hereinafter set forth, a permit for such addition, modification or construction shall first be obtained from the department of public works of the county of Marin upon the payment to the county of Marin of an amount equal to the charge hereinafter set forth for the addition of the number of fixture units as hereinafter determined.

18.08.030 - Basis for charge.¶
The amount charged shall be computed on the basis of the number of plumbing fixture units as hereinafter described.

18.08.040 - Unit schedule.¶
The number of fixture units shall be determined in accordance with the following schedule:

Every fixture shall be rated in fixture units in accordance with the above schedule. Fixtures and devices not shown above and uses marked "*" shall be computed on rated discharge capacity as follows: Private use — 1 fixture unit for each seven and one-half gallon per minute or fraction thereof; Public use — 1 fixture unit for each four gallons per minute or fraction thereof.
The total fixture unit per building shall be the sum of the fixture unit of each fixture.
Private use includes private dwellings and private hotel rooms.
Public use includes public toilets, locker rooms, commercial and industrial installations.

18.08.050 - Connection fee per unit.¶
The connection fee per fixture unit shall be as follows:

Any other sewer maintenance districts presently or in the future situated within the county of Marin shall have a connection fee charge per fixture unit based upon the cost determined by dividing the total replacement cost of the sewerage facilities in the district divided by the capacity of the system in number of fixture units.

18.08.060 - Cases for special approval.¶
If the property of the person desiring permission to connect to a sewer maintenance district is located on lands outside of the district, or of the number of fixture units already connected to the sewerage system of said sewer maintenance district equal or exceed the capacity of the sewage system in the opinion of the department of public works of the county of Marin, then no connection shall be made without prior approval of the board of supervisors of the county of Marin.

18.08.070 - Penalty for violation.¶
Any person, firm or corporation who shall connect plumbing facilities to or make use of the sanitary sewage system of any sewer maintenance district now situated or hereinafter situated in the county of Marin, without first having paid the connection charges as established by this chapter, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed one hundred eighty days or by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
