10.12.010. - Authority.

(a)

Vehicle Code § 22352 sets forth the prima facie speed limits. Therefore, as set forth in Subsection (b) of the section, the prima facie speed limit on all Town roads is 25 miles per hour unless otherwise set forth in this chapter.

(b)

Vehicle Code § 22357 allows local authorities to establish a speed zone higher than the prima facie speed limit of 25 miles per hour when such high speed zone is based on an engineering and traffic survey.

10.12.020. - Limits effective when signs erected.

The prima facie speed limits set forth in Section 10.12.030 shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon such a road.

10.12.030. - Speed limits; certain streets designated.

(a)

There is determined and declared a prima facie speed limit of 25 miles per hour on Old Mammoth Road, between Main Street (State Route 203) and a point 700 feet south of the intersection of Old Mammoth Road and Chateau Road.

(b)

There is determined and declared a prima facie speed limit of 35 miles per hour on the following named roads:

(1)

Lake Mary Road, between Minaret Road/Main Street (State Route 203) and the Ski Tunnel;

(2)

Forest Trail, between Minaret Road (State Route 203) and the easterly end of Pinecrest Avenue;

(3)

Meridian Boulevard, from 150 feet east of the intersection of Meridian Boulevard and Sierra Park Road to Old Mammoth Road;

(4)

Minaret Road, between Meridian Boulevard and Old Mammoth Road;

(5)

Old Mammoth Road, between Ski Trail and Evergreen Street.

(c)

There is determined and declared a prima facie speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the following named streets:

(1)

Meridian Boulevard, between Old Mammoth Road and Majestic Pines Drive;

(2)

Minaret Road, between Lake Mary Road/Main Street (State Route 203) and Meridian Boulevard;

(3)

Old Mammoth Road, from 700 feet south of the intersection of Old Mammoth Road and Chateau Road to Ski Trail.

(d)

There is determined and declared a prima facie speed limit of 45 miles per hour on Meridian Boulevard, from Main Street (State Route 203) to 150 feet east of Sierra Park Road.
