§ 7.24.010. Pickup order required.¶
The owner or agent who sells baled hay of any kind or straw from a field or stack whether enclosed in a building or in the open shall for each load sold prepare and sign a pickup order in duplicate stating:
A. Name, address and telephone number of the seller;
B. Date and location from which the hay or straw is to be removed;
C. Name and address of the buyer;
D. A description of the hay or straw to be transported as to kind, number and description of bales;
E. Name and address of the purchaser;
F. Name and address of the driver doing the transporting;
G. Destination;
H. A description including the license number of the vehicle used in the transportation.

§ 7.24.020. Retention of pickup order.¶
The owner or agent selling the hay or straw shall deliver an executed pickup order as described in Section 7.24.010 of this chapter to the driver of the vehicle transporting the hay or straw and shall retain one copy in his or her possession for a period of six months.

§ 7.24.030. Transportation without order—Unlawful.¶
It is unlawful for anyone to load or transport over any public road in the county of Lassen any baled hay or straw originating within the county of Lassen unless the person driving the vehicle transporting the hay or straw has within his or her possession a duly executed pickup order as described in this chapter.

§ 7.24.040. Display of pickup order.¶
Any person loading or transporting baled hay or straw shall display his or her copy of the pickup order to any peace officer on request. Any peace officer is authorized to conduct inspections of pickup orders either in route or at points of departure or destination.

§ 7.24.050. Retention and display of pickup orders.¶
The purchaser of baled hay or straw originating within Lassen County shall retain the pickup order in his possession for a period of six months and display the same to any peace officer on request.

§ 7.24.060. Exceptions.¶
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to the producer of hay or straw transporting the same for his own use.

§ 7.24.070. Violations—Penalty.¶
Any person violating the provisions of Section 7.24.030 of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars or more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment in the County Jail for not more than six months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
