2.08.010 Establishment.¶
A public library is established in the City of Larkspur in accordance with Education Code Title 1, Part 11, Chapter 5 (Section 18900 et seq.). The library shall be managed by a Library Director who shall report to the City Manager or their designee. A Library Board provides advice to the Library Director, and policy recommendations to the City Council, in all matters related to the library. 2.08.020 Duties and Responsibilities.¶
The Library Board shall have the power and duty to:
A. Advise the Library Director on all activities of the library;
B. Recommend policy pertaining to the use of library facilities and the use of all library materials and equipment contained therein;
C. Recommend policy on all matters pertaining to the selection and purchase of library books and materials;
D. Advise and make recommendations regarding additions or structural changes to the library building and equipment;
E. Advise the Library Director on any suggestions coming from the citizens of Larkspur concerning the operation of the library. (Ord. 1094 § 8, 2026; Ord. 1030 § 2(2), 2018; Ord. 970 § 2, 2010; Ord. 823 § 1 (part), 1991)
2.08.030 Terms of Office.¶
The members of the Library Board shall be appointed by the City Council and shall serve for a term of four (4) years. All members shall be residents of the City of Larkspur. (Ord. 1030 § 2(2), 2018; Ord. 823 § 1 (part), 1991)
