8.04.430 - Adoption by reference.

Except as hereinafter provided, Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 5307 as amended and in effect on February 21, 1978, entitled "An Ordinance Requiring Protection from Excavations and Other Hazards," is adopted by reference as the excavation ordinance of the city. This ordinance shall also be known as, and may be cited as, the "general hazards ordinance."

8.04.440 - Public record.

Three copies of Ordinance No. 5307 of the county of Los Angeles, as amended and in effect on February 21, 1978, have been deposited in the office of the city clerk of the city, and shall be at all times maintained by the clerk for use and examination by the public.

8.04.450 - Definitions.

Whenever any of the following names or terms are used in said Ordinance No. 5307 of the county of Los Angeles, as amended, each name or term shall be deemed or construed to have meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows:

"Board of supervisors" means the city council of the city of Lancaster.

"County" or "county of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated area" means the true territorial boundaries of the city of Lancaster.

"County engineer" means the city engineer of the city of Lancaster.

"Superintendent" means the city engineer of the city of Lancaster while enforcing Sections 50241, 50242, 50243, 50244 and 50254 of the Government Code; and means the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, acting as chief of police of the city of Lancaster, while enforcing Sections 50234 and 50236 of the Government Code.

8.04.460 - Violation—Penalty.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period of not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each day or portion thereof during which such violation continues and shall be punishable therefor as herein provided.
