Sec. 7-4-700. - Weight, size and load restrictions.

The city council may set varying weight, size and load limits on certain bridges or roadways when such a restriction is in the interest of the safety of the motoring public.

Sec. 7-4-701. - Permit for variation from limitations.

(a) Issuance. The director is authorized to issue permits for variations from the size, weight and load limitations set forth in Vehicle Code § 35000 et seq. Such authorization shall be exercised in accordance with the guidelines and restrictions set forth in Vehicle Code § 35780 et seq.

(b) Fee. An administration fee for permits issued for a vehicle or combination of vehicles under the provisions of this section shall be established by resolution of the city council.

(c) Security. The director may require such undertaking or security as he deems necessary to protect the highways, streets and bridges from injury, or to provide indemnity for any injury resulting from the operation of the vehicle.

Sec. 7-4-702. - Moving of buildings or other structures.

(a) Minimum manpower. It shall be unlawful for any building or structure 20 feet or more in width to be moved over, upon, along or across any highway, street, alley or way unless the contractor so moving the building shall have not less than five persons engaged in the moving operations, comprised as follows:

(1) A foreman.

(2) A truck driver.

(3) A person on the building to handle wire clearances.

(4) Two flagmen, with one flagman to be at least 300 feet ahead of the building or structure, and the other flagman to follow the building or structure at a distance sufficient to give adequate warning to approaching traffic. The flagmen shall carry the signals required by law.

(b) Relocation permit required. When any building is to be moved, the permit shall not be issued unless a relocation permit, issued pursuant to division 1 of title 8, has been obtained for the relocation of the building or structure.
