Sec. 11-3-500. - Determination of need.

The city hereby regulates the formation and continued existence of fire companies pursuant to Health and Safety Code § 14825 et seq. The city council may authorize the formation or continued existence of fire companies within the city where it determines that a reasonable level of fire services does not already exist and where the provision of supplemental or competing fire services by any other entity would not result in the mismanagement of emergencies or in confusion to those seeking aid.

Sec. 11-3-505. - Recordation.

No fire company may be formed or continue to exist by renewal pursuant to Health and Safety Code § 14827, nor may the respective certificate be recorded pursuant to Health and Safety Code § 14825 et seq. until the determination required by this article is made.

Sec. 11-3-510. - Administration of article; recommendations to city council.

The director of fire services is charged with administration of this article as well as the authority to make recommendations to the city council as to any determination requested to be made under this article.
