§ 12.12.010. General paving policy.

City streets and secondary streets shall be improved and paved by the city from funds allocated by the state and county for that particular purpose and from such other and general funds of the city as may be available. Alleys will be improved and paved by the city unless otherwise directed by the city council, upon the adjacent property owners paying for all costs of construction as may be determined by the street superintendent.

§ 12.12.020. Major streets—Designated.

City streets may be designated as major city streets from time to time by resolution of the city council for purposes of approved designation of the State Highway Commission.

§ 12.12.030. Major streets—Width.

Major city streets shall have a minimum right-of-way width of one hundred feet (30.48 meters) with a minimum roadway of not less than eighty-four feet (25.60 meters).

§ 12.12.040. Major streets—Paving specifications.

All major city streets shall be graded to official grades and paved from curb to curb with an asphaltic surface of not less than three inches (7.62 centimeters) in thickness and base as determined by results of soil tests or the equivalent as may be approved by the city.

§ 12.12.050. Secondary streets—Designated.

§ 12.12.080. Local streets.

Local city streets shall have a minimum right-of-way width of sixty feet (18.28 meters) with a minimum roadway of not less than thirty-six feet (10.97 meters).

§ 12.12.100. Acceptance for dedication.

All streets shall conform to the minimum width specified in this chapter and unless extraordinary conditions make strict enforcement impossible, part-width streets shall not be accepted for dedication.
