Editor's note— Ord. No. 2009-2803, § 1, adopted October 27, 2009, repealed ch. 14.26 and enacted a new chapter as set out herein. The former ch. 14.26, §§ 14.26.010—14.26.030, pertained to similar subject matter and derived from Ord. No. 2669, §§ 2—4, adopted May 14, 1997.

There is hereby adopted by the City of La Mesa for the purpose of regulating materials of construction and their use in the erection, installation, alteration, repair, removal, conversion, demolition, and construction of public works improvements in the City of La Mesa; providing for the administration of contracts as well as permits issued in connection with such improvements; and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith; that certain standard specifications, except as may otherwise be provided therein, known as the 2009 Edition of the "Standard Specifications for Public Work Construction", prepared and promulgated by Public Works Standards Inc., a mutual benefit corporation comprising of American Public Works Association, Associated General Contractors of California, the Engineering Contractor's Association, Southern California Contractors Association and BNi Publications., are adopted and applicable to all public works construction undertaken after the effective date of this ordinance; of which standard specifications, not less than one copy has been and is now on file in the office of the city clerk of the City of La Mesa and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length therein and from the date on which this chapter shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of La Mesa, California.

There are hereby adopted any subsequent amendments made thereto from time to time by Public Works Standards, Inc., adopted by reference in Section 14.26.020.
