8.04.010 - Definition of trash and rubbish.

The words "trash" and rubbish" mean any trash, rubbish, leaves, tree trimmings, grass, foliage, or other debris.

8.04.020 - Burning prohibited.

No person shall burn any trash or rubbish within the city limits. Open burning of wood or wood products produced and sold for use in commercially manufactured wood-burning appliances shall be permitted inside the city limits as long as the burning is kept within an approved commercially manufactured wood-burning appliance. The commercially manufactured wood-burning appliance must be located in an area with proper fire clearance and a water source within twenty (20) feet of its location. A person eighteen (18) years of age or older must be present at all times during burning. Open campfires and burn barrels are prohibited within the city limits. (SJVAPCD, Regulation IV, Rule 4103.) All open burning must comply with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, (SJVAPCD), and may be subject to change dependent on SJVAPCD rules and regulations. (District Rules and regulation, entire document, notably Rules 4103 and 4903.) Open barbeques/fire pits used to cook food for human consumption are not prohibited per SJVAPCD Regulation IV. Rule 4103, Open Burning, 4.0 Exceptions, 4.1.1.

8.04.030 - Burning permitted for agricultural purposes.

Agricultural burning is permitted on farmland that has been annexed to the city limits and remains in active production, in compliance with San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District regulations.

8.04.040 - Trash and rubbish in city street prohibited.

No person shall place or cause to be placed any trash or rubbish upon any street, sidewalk, alley, or right-of-way within the City of Kingsburg.
