§ 10.36.010. Purpose.

It is the express purpose of this chapter to establish prima facie speed limits within the city pursuant to authority contained in California Vehicle Code Sections 22357 and 22358.

§ 10.36.020. Designation of speed limits.

Pursuant to authority contained in Sections 22357 and 22358 of the California Vehicle Code, it is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic study that a prima facie speed limit greater or lesser than that permitted by state law would facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic on city streets and would be reasonable and safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is declared that the prima facie speed limits on all streets within the city shall be twenty-five miles per hour, except that on the following streets or parts of streets now or hereafter within the city, the prima facie speed limit shall be as follows:

§ 10.36.030. Speed limit signs.

The city manager is directed to have a standard type of speed limit sign installed at appropriate locations upon First Street, giving notice of the prima facie speed limits provided for in Section 10.36.020, of this code, as hereby amended.
