3.08.540 - Elected officials' salaries.¶
A. The elected officials subject to this section are as follows:
Assessor-recorder;
Auditor-controller/county clerk;
Members, board of supervisors;
District attorney;
Sheriff/coroner/public administrator;
Treasurer-tax collector.
B. Commencing on September 9, 2023 the base salary for elected officials shall be reestablished in the following biweekly amounts:
Assessor-recorder: six thousand seven hundred ninety dollars and fifty-eight cents ($6,790.58);
Auditor-controller/county clerk: six thousand seven hundred ninety dollars and fifty-eight cents ($6,790.58);
Members, board of supervisors: four thousand two hundred forty-seven dollars and fourteen cents ($4,247.14);
District attorney: eight thousand seven hundred thirteen dollars and eighty-three cents ($8,713.83);
Sheriff/coroner/public administrator: eight thousand seven hundred thirteen dollars and eighty-three cents ($8,713.83);
Treasurer-tax collector: six thousand seven hundred ninety dollars and fifty-eight cents ($6,790.58).
C. Continuing thereafter, increases to the biweekly salary of elected officials shall be calculated as follows:
The current biweekly salary of each elected official shall be increased an amount equal to the lesser of the annual average percent change of the California All Urban Consumers Index or the average employee negotiated salary percentage increase in the prior calendar year.
The average employee negotiated salary percentage increase shall be determined by the weighted average increase of the total number of authorized employees for each employee association unit and the management, mid-management, and confidential bargaining units, as of November 1 of the prior calendar year. The management and mid-management bargaining units will be considered as one (1) unit and the confidential bargaining unit will be considered a separate unit for calculation purposes. The percentage figure shall be rounded up or down to two (2) decimal points beyond the percentage figure (e.g., 1.15 percent).
The calculated increase shall not exceed three percent (3%).
The amount of the increase so determined will be added to the existing biweekly salary paid to each elected official effective on the first pay period following January 1 of each year.
There shall be no increase during a declared fiscal emergency.
D. As used in this section, "salary" means the regular direct cash, paid as compensation for services rendered and shall not include any premium pay, vacation allowance, sick leave allowance, health insurance coverage, uniform allowance, cafeteria plan benefits or any other non-salary fringe benefit of employment. Elected officials shall receive the same non-salary fringe benefits and all adjustments to those fringe benefits as are granted to similarly situated employees in the management bargaining unit.
E. Notwithstanding Section 3.08.540 (C), elected officials serving as department heads shall not have a biweekly base salary less than five percent above their respective assistant department head's biweekly base salary.
F. Upon a minimum of one (1) day prior written notice to the auditor-controller, an elected official may take a voluntary furlough day and have their pay reduced accordingly.
G. Upon written notice to the auditor-controller provided at least one (1) day prior to the end of the pay period, an elected official may voluntarily forfeit all or a portion of their salary for any pay period.

3.08.560 - Voter registration deputies.¶
In addition to the positions provided in the salary schedules, the county clerk may appoint such additional registration deputies in any precinct as he may deem necessary for the registration of voters in their respective precincts. Said deputies are not subject to classification by this code, but shall receive as compensation such sum for each elector registered by each of said deputies as the board shall hereafter fix, said compensation to be paid out of the general fund of the county upon presentation and filing with the board of supervisors a duly verified claim therefor, approved by the county.

3.08.580 - Board of education.¶
Each member of the county board of education shall receive ten dollars ($10.00) a day for his services for each day he is in actual attendance at official meetings of said board.
