§ 7.36.010. Burning—Regulations.

No person shall dispose of any combustible waste material by burning on any lot or parcel of land within an unincorporated area in Inyo County except as follows:

A. All such burning shall be done in a properly constructed incinerator, equipped with a spark arrestor, or all such burning shall be done at a distance of more than ten feet from any building or other structure with a competent person in attendance on such burning until all fire is extinguished;

B. Every incinerator shall be maintained in good condition, working order and repair at all times;

C. All burning shall be performed between the hours of six a.m. and twelve noon and all burning shall be extinguished by the hour of twelve noon. It shall be the duty of the county sheriff to enforce this chapter.

§ 7.36.020. Receptacle—Required.

No person having charge or control of any paper, wood shavings, tagging material, rubbish, oily rags or other combustible waste material or litter, within any unincorporated area of Inyo County, where the same may be located, shall fail, neglect, or refuse to entirely remove or safely dispose of the same at the close of each working day, and until such safe disposition thereof, to securely store the same in incombustible receptacles.

§ 7.36.030. Fire hazard—Prohibited.

No person shall so construct, erect, install, locate, equip, maintain or use any incinerator or barbecue pit, or so burn any combustible material, as to constitute or occasion a fire hazard by the use or burning thereof, or as to endanger the life or property of any person thereby.

§ 7.36.040. Fire hazard—Removal—Required.

No person or persons owning or having charge of any lot, piece or parcel of land in any unincorporated area in Inyo County shall fail, neglect or refuse to entirely remove any and all vegetation, tumbleweed and other combustible material therefrom which may be or become a fire hazard.

§ 7.36.050. Fire hazard—Removal—By city.

In the event such vegetation, tumbleweed or other combustible material is not entirely removed within three days after the same has become a fire hazard, then the county may enter upon the premises where the same may be and remove the vegetation, tumbleweed and combustible material and the owner of the premises shall be liable to the county for the expense of the removal.

§ 7.36.060. Violation—Penalty.

Every person violating or failing or neglecting or refusing to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as provided in Section 1.20.010, and each such person is guilty of a separate offense for each day during any portion of which the violation of, or failure or neglect or refusal to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter is committed, continued or permitted by such person.
