§ 10.08.010. Definitions generally.¶
Whenever in this title the following terms are used, they shall have the meaning ascribed to them in this chapter.

§ 10.08.020. Board.¶
"Board" means the county board of supervisors.

§ 10.08.030. Bus loading zone.¶
"Bus loading zone" means that space adjacent to a curb or edge of roadway reserved for the exclusive use of buses during the loading or unloading of passengers.

§ 10.08.040. Chapter.¶
"Chapter" means a chapter of this title, unless an article or part of some other ordinance or law is indicated.

§ 10.08.050. Holiday.¶
"Holiday," within the meaning of this title, means the first day of January, the twelfth day of February, the twenty-second day of February, the thirtieth day of May, the fourth day of July, the first Monday in September, the ninth day of October, Thanksgiving Day, the twenty-fifth day of December, and any other day proclaimed a holiday by the President of the United States or the Governor of California.

§ 10.08.060. Loading zone.¶
"Loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb or edge of roadway reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

§ 10.08.070. Official traffic control devices.¶
"Official traffic control devices" means all signs, signals, markings and devices not inconsistent with this title, placed or erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction for the purpose of regulating, warning or guiding traffic.

§ 10.08.080. Park.¶
"Park" means to leave standing any vehicle whether occupied or not otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

§ 10.08.090. Passenger loading zone.¶
"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb or edge of roadway reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

§ 10.08.100. Pedestrian.¶
"Pedestrian" means any person afoot.

§ 10.08.110. Road commissioner.¶
"Road commissioner" means the county road commissioner.

§ 10.08.120. Section.¶
"Section" means a section of this title, unless the section of some other ordinance or law is indicated.

§ 10.08.130. State Department of Public Works.¶
"State Department of Public Works" means the Department of Public Works of the state of California.

§ 10.08.140. Stop.¶
"Stop" means the complete cessation of movement.

§ 10.08.150. Stop or stand.¶
"Stop" and "stand" mean any stopping or standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except where necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with directions of a law enforcement officer or official traffic control device.

§ 10.08.160. Time.¶
Whenever certain hours are named in this title, they mean standard time or daylight saving time whichever may be in current use in the unincorporated territory of the county.

§ 10.08.170. Vehicle code.¶
"Vehicle code" means the Vehicle Code of the state.

§ 10.08.180. Vehicle code definitions.¶
Whenever any words or phrases used in this title are not defined herein, but are now defined in the Vehicle Code of the state, such definitions as now existing are incorporated herein and apply to such words and phrases as used in this title as though set forth herein in full.
