Sec. 24-71. - Businesses required to be permitted.

Firms engaged in the nursery, tree service, gardening, landscaping, lawn maintenance, building construction, composting, and recycling businesses in the city shall be required to obtain a city permit for hauling solid waste, organic waste and/or recyclable over city streets. These persons or firms shall:

(1) Pay for and maintain a current City of Fontana business license. A permit fee as set by the city council in the rate resolution shall be paid with the business license.

(2) Ensure solid waste, organic waste, or recyclables are contained in a covered vehicle, including being under a tarp, so it will not blow away or create a traffic or pollution hazard.

(3) As a condition of business license renewal, provide a report to the city, as specified by the city manager, on the amount and type of solid waste that was diverted by the permittee from landfills over the previous business license period. Such records shall further include all information required by the SB 1383 Regulations.

(4) Removal of construction debris by other than the municipal solid waste contractor shall not be allowed within the city except by separate permit pursuant to this section.

(5) Permits are non-transferable and may be terminated, revoked or suspended if the conditions of the permit are not met.
