2.14.010 - Department established—Function.¶
(a) ESTABLISHED. The parks and recreation department is established for Duarte.
(b) FUNCTION. The primary functions of this department are to provide opportunities for wholesome, year-round public recreational service for each age group and to develop in an attractive and safe manner the parks and recreation areas and facilities of Duarte, and to insure that such facilities are suitable for a wide variety of recreational purposes.

2.14.020 - Office of director.¶
The city manager shall appoint a director of parks and recreation in accordance with Chapter 2.12.

2.14.030 - Commission meetings attendance.¶
The director of parks and recreation may attend meetings of the parks and recreation commission and, when so directed by the city manager, shall serve as secretary to the commission.

2.14.040 - Duties of director.¶
The director of parks and recreation shall:
(a) In accordance with Chapter 2.12, employ required personnel under the supervision of the city manager, such as assistants, supervisors, leaders and clerical employees, and supervise them in the performance of their duties;
(b) Administer existing parks and recreation areas and facilities and plan for the acquisition, development and operation of proposed facilities;
(c) Inform the general public of the services and facilities being provided by the parks and recreation department;
(d) Solicit suggestions from the general public to improve or increase the effectiveness of the service;
(e) Cooperate with governmental and voluntary organizations and agencies in the furtherance of recreation opportunities.
