§ 10.12.010. Disposal of Dead Animals.

The owner of any animal which dies shall dispose of the carcass of such animal in a sanitary manner as prescribed by the General Manager or authorized agent within 24 hours after said owner has knowledge of the animal's death. No person shall bury any dead animal in the cities served by the Authority unless approved by the General Manager. It shall be the duty of the General Manager or authorized agent to take custody of all dead animals from the owner when requested.

§ 10.12.020. Notification of Owner.

Whenever a deceased animal picked up by an animal services officer carries identification of any kind, the owner shall be notified and the notice posted at the shelter giving such information in an easily visible location.

§ 10.12.030. When Owner Is Unknown.

The General Manager shall be responsible for the disposal of all dead animals whose ownership cannot be established.
