(a) Pursuant to Section 13510, Chapter 1, the City of Cypress will adhere to standards for recruitment and training of police officers and public safety dispatchers established by the California Commission of Peace Officer Standards and Training.
(b) Pursuant to Section 13512, the commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the commission to ascertain that the Cypress Police Department's personnel adhere to standards for selection and training established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

§ 20-3.1. Protection of canines utilized by the police department.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully or maliciously tease, taunt, torment, strike, kick, mutilate, disable, or otherwise injure, or kill, or to unreasonably interfere or meddle with any canine while such animal is being utilized by the City of Cypress Police Department, or any officer or employee thereof, in the performance of any function or duty of said department, or of such officer or employee.
