10.04.010 Definitions generally.

The words and phrases in this chapter when used in this title shall for the purpose of this title have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter. Whenever any words or phrases used in this chapter are not defined, but are defined in the California Vehicle Code, such definitions shall apply.

10.04.020 Coach.

"Coach" means any motor bus, motor coach, trackless trolley or passenger stage used as a common carrier of passengers.

10.04.030 Council.

"Council" means the City Council of the City of Corona, California.

10.04.040 Curb.

"Curb" means the lateral boundary of the roadway, whether such curb be marked by curbing construction or not so marked. "Curb" does not include the line dividing the roadway of a street from parking strips in the center of a street, nor from tracks or rights-of-way of public utility companies.

10.04.050 Divisional island.

"Divisional island" means a raised island located in the roadway and separating opposing or conflicting streams of traffic.

10.04.060 Holidays.

"Holidays" are the first day of January, the third Monday in February, the last Monday in May, the fourth day of July, the first Monday in September, the eleventh day of November, the twenty-fifth day of December and Thanksgiving Day. If the first day of January, the fourth day of July or the twenty-fifth day of December fall upon a Sunday, the Monday following is a holiday. If the first day of January, the fourth day of July or the twenty-fifth day of December falls upon a Saturday, the Friday preceding is a holiday.

10.04.070 Loading zone.

"Loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

10.04.074 Nonmotorized vehicle.

"Nonmotorized vehicle" means any trailer, camp trailer, semi-trailer or trailer coach as defined by the Vehicle Code.

10.04.080 Official time standard.

"Official time standard." Whenever certain hours are named in this title, they mean standard time or daylight savings time as may be in current use in this city.

10.04.084 Oversized vehicle .

(A) "Oversized vehicle" means any vehicle or combination of vehicles that exceeds 20 feet in length or 90 inches in width exclusive of projecting lights or devices as allowed by Cal. Vehicle Code §§ 35109, 35110 or 35112, as may be amended.

(B) This definition shall exclude any sedan or limousine manufactured expressly for carrying ten or less passengers.

10.04.090 Parkway.

"Parkway" means the space adjacent to the curb, between the curb or roadway edge and the sidewalk.

10.04.100 Passenger loading zone.

"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

10.04.110 Pedestrian.

"Pedestrian" means any person afoot or using a means of conveyance propelled by human power other than a bicycle.

10.04.120 Police officer.

"Police officer" means every officer of the Police Department of this city or any officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic regulation.

10.04.130 Stopping or standing.

"Stopping or standing" means any cessation of movement of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the direction of a police officer or official traffic-control device or signal.

"Vehicle Code" means the California Vehicle Code.
