(a) A corporate seal for the City is hereby adopted and established as the official seal of the City.

(b) The official seal shall be circular in form, not less than two inches in diameter. Around its circumference shall appear the words "California City, California" and, within, the words "Incorporated 1965". The basic design may be enhanced by additional design elements adopted by the City Council, as provided in paragraph (c).

(c) The official seal is described as follows:

(d) The City Clerk shall have the custody of the corporate seal. The use of the corporate seal shall be for purposes directly connected with official business of the City. The City seal shall not be used by any person or group without first obtaining the prior consent of the City Clerk as provided in this section.

(e) City Clerk is empowered to authorize individuals or groups to use the City seal, provided the use has been approved in advance by the City Council. This includes authorizing use of the City seal in conjunction with items offered for sale by the City, for the purpose of promoting the City. Prior to authorizing such use, the City Clerk shall obtain a plan describing the items that would bear the City seal. The plan shall include the criteria used in determining the proposed items, and an analysis of the marketability of each item. Only those items bearing the City seal that have been authorized by the City Council pursuant to this Section may be offered for sale.

(f) Every person who, without the prior approval of the City Council, uses or allows to be used the City seal or any copy or reproduction of the City seal, whether maliciously or for commercial purposes, or in a manner contrary to this section or state law, or in any manner whatsoever, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
