PREFACE
The Code which follows contains codified ordinances of the City of California City adopted after May 1998.
Title 1 was adopted on August 9, 1998, and reprinted with SDI provisions (Sec. 1-3.07 and 1-3.08) on March 13, 2000, per Ordinance No. 99-569 adopted July 6, 1999.
Codified ordinances adopted after the above date will be incorporated into this code by page revisions. The revised page will contain a notation at the bottom of the page indicating in a short-hand manner the year, month and day of the revision. For example, "011298" indicates that the revised page was prepared for an old ordinance which was in 1998. The amended sections on the revised page will also contain a reference to the amending ordinance. For example, "(Ord. No. 80-260, § 1,)" indicates the section was amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 80-260.
The Code has been republished in 2015 with the inclusion of ordinances received for codification up to including Ord. No. 15-733, adopted on September 8, 2015, and this republication constitutes a replacement volume to the prior Code. Subsequent to this republication supplementation will commence with Supplement No. 1.
Page Numbering System
The page numbering system used in this Code is a prefix system. The letters to the left of the colon are an abbreviation which represents a certain portion of the volume. The number to the right of the colon represents the number of the page in that portion. In the case of a chapter of the Code, the number to the left of the colon indicates the number of the chapter. In the case of an appendix to the Code, the letter immediately to the left of the colon indicates the letter of the appendix. The following are typical parts of codes of ordinances, which may or may not appear in this Code at this time, and their corresponding prefixes:
| CODE | CD1:1 |
|---|---|
| CODE APPENDIX | CDA:1 |
| CODE COMPARATIVE TABLES | CCT:1 |
Looseleaf Supplements
A special feature of this Code to which the attention of the user is especially directed is the looseleaf system of binding and supplemental servicing for the Code. With this system, the Code will be kept up-to-date periodically. Upon the final passage of amendatory ordinances, they will be properly edited and the appropriate page or pages affected will be reprinted. These new pages will be distributed to holders of copies of the Code, with instructions for the manner of inserting the new pages and deleting the obsolete pages.
Successfully keeping this Code up-to-date at all times will depend largely upon the holder of the volume. As revised sheets are received, it will then become the responsibility of the holder to have the amendments inserted according to the attached instructions. It is strongly recommended by the publisher that all such amendments be inserted immediately upon receipt to avoid misplacing them and, in addition, that all deleted pages be saved and filed for historical reference purposes.
Acknowledgments
The republication of the Code was under the direct supervision of Robert S. Hornyak, Editor, and credit is gratefully given to members of the publisher's staff for their able assistance throughout the project.
