13.16.010. - Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

A. Building and plumbing inspector means the person designated by the city council to perform the duties of building and plumbing inspector for the city.

B. Family homes and dwelling units means buildings or building units used solely and exclusively for residence purposes.

C. Food plant waste means all animal and vegetable refuse from commercial establishments resulting from the manufacture or preparation for sale or consumption of food or drink to be consumed elsewhere than on the premises.

D. Garbage means all animal and vegetable refuse from kitchens and household waste that shall have been prepared for or shall result from the preparation of food or drink to be consumed on the premises.

E. Market refuse means decayed, unsound or other meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and other substances from meat, fish, fruit or vegetable markets or mercantile establishments, and animal, vegetable and other refuse from markets and retail or wholesale stores.

13.16.020. - Use in dwellings.

The use of garbage grinders for the purpose of preparing garbage for deposit into the sewer system of the city, except as provided in section 13.16.030, shall be limited to family homes and dwelling units.

13.16.030. - Use unlawful in premises where food is prepared for onsite consumption.

It shall be unlawful to install or use garbage grinders for discharge into the sewer system of the city in premises where food or drink is prepared for onsite consumption.

13.16.040. - Use in food plants and stores prohibited.

It shall be unlawful to install or use garbage grinders for discharge into the sewer system of the city in food plants, markets, wholesale or retail stores, and commercial or industrial establishments.
