9-1-1401: ADOPTION OF CALIFORNIA EXISTING BUILDING CODE:

The 2025 edition of the California Existing Building Code is hereby adopted by reference, excluding sections 1.8.4 through 1.8.10, 1.9.2, Chapter 1, Division II, Sections 317 through 323, Chapters 3A, 4A, and 5A, and Appendix Chapter A4, B, C, D, E and Resource A, and the same shall be known and may be cited as the Existing Building Code of the City of Beverly Hills.

Sections 101 through 117 of the California Existing Building Code are deleted.

Section 301.1 excluding exceptions, of the California Existing Building Code is amended to read as follows:

301.1 Applicability.

The repair, alteration, change of occupancy, addition or relocation of all existing buildings shall comply with Section 301.2, 301.3 or 301.4. The provisions of Sections 302 through 309 shall apply to all alterations, repairs, additions, relocation of structures and changes of occupancy regardless of compliance method.

Additions, alterations or repairs to an existing building or structure which are located within the Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area shall comply with the requirements of BHMC Article 17.

Sections 301.3.3 and 301.4 of the California Existing Building Code are deleted.

Chapters 12 through 14 of the California Existing Building Code are deleted. (Ord. 25-O-2926, eff. 1-1-2026; amd. Ord. 25-O-2929, 12-9-2025)
