SECTION R1401

PROTECTION OF PEDESTRIANS

R1401.1 Construction railings shall be painted, and maintained painted, in a neutral color.

R1401.2 Barriers and fences shall be painted, and maintained painted in a neutral color.

R1401.3 The space under the canopy over the walkway and the approaches thereto shall be kept well lighted with artificial lighting continuously between sunset and sunrise. An automated lighting that can be activated by time of day, ambient light levels, or motion shall be used.

Chapter 15 is added to the California Residential Code to read as follows:
