2-5-301: DUTY OF POLICE AND FIRE SAFETY PERSONNEL TO AID IN DISTRESS SITUATIONS:

In addition to the performance of their regular and ordinary duties, it shall be the duty of all police officers and firefighters at all times, and under all circumstances, to go to the aid of all persons, animals, or property in immediate distress or danger in the city, and to render such help and assistance as lies within their power. They shall also render such assistance outside the city limits as ordered by the police chief or by the fire chief. (1962 Code § 2-6.402)

2-5-302: DUTY OF CITY EMPLOYEES IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS:

In an emergency arising from attack, war, mob violence, or similar violence, or from a natural disaster due to the elements, such as earthquake, fire, explosion, wind, or water, any or all employees of the city may be directed by their acting department head, or directly or indirectly by the director of emergency services, to go outside the city limits, under approved mutual aid agreements, to perform certain work or services in connection with such emergency. Each and every employee required to perform such work shall render such service under such circumstances to the best of their ability, and if injured in the course of complying with these requirements and directions, they shall be deemed to be injured in the course of employment and shall be entitled to workers' compensation therefor as provided by law. 2-5-303: SURETY BONDS REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES:

Surety bonds shall be provided to the city by the following officers and employees prior to assuming office or employment, and shall be maintained at all times during their tenure. The bonds shall be approved by the city attorney, and the premium on such bonds shall be paid by the city. The bonds required shall be as follows:

A. The city clerk in an amount not less than twenty five thousand dollars ($25,000.00).

B. The city treasurer in the amount not less than one hundred thirty five thousand dollars ($135,000.00).

C. Deputy city treasurer in the amount not less than twenty five thousand dollars ($25,000.00).

D. In addition to the above, a blanket surety bond shall be purchased by risk management for coverage of all city employees in an amount not less than one million dollars ($1,000,000.00). (1962 Code § 2-6.501)

2-5-304: HOLIDAYS:

A. City Offices of the City of Beverly Hills shall be open to the public for business Monday through Friday of each week, or at such other times as may be designated by resolution of the City Council, except the holidays designated in Subsection B.

B. Holidays in the City of Beverly Hills are:

    1. New Year's Day (January 1);
    1. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (third Monday in January);
    1. Presidents' Day (third Monday in February);
    1. Memorial Day (last Monday in May);
    1. Juneteenth (June 19);
    1. Independence Day (Fourth of July);
    1. Labor Day (first Monday in September);
    1. Veterans Day (November 11);
    1. Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November);
    1. The day after Thanksgiving Day;
    1. Christmas Day (December 25);

C. In the event that a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be a holiday. In the event that a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be a holiday.
