10.52.010 - Purpose and intent.¶
The purpose of this Chapter is to enhance traffic safety, reduce roadway maintenance costs, and preserve the residential and community character of designated streets by prohibiting the use of certain City streets by trucks exceeding 14,000 pounds or seven tons gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), consistent with the requirements of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

10.52.020 - Definitions.¶
The following words and phrases when used in this Chapter shall have the definitions respectively ascribed to them in this Section. Whenever any words or phrases used in this Chapter are not defined but are defined in the California Vehicle Code and amendments thereto, such definitions shall apply.
A. For the purposes of this Chapter the word "Truck" means any commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) in excess of seven tons (14,000 pounds), except those vehicles expressly exempted in this Chapter.
B. The word "GVWR" means Gross Vehicle Weight Rating as defined in the California Vehicle Code.

10.52.030 - Prohibition.¶
The operation of any truck exceeding a GVWR of seven tons (14,000 pounds) is hereby prohibited on the following streets, in whole or in part, within the City of Beaumont:
6th Street, between Viele Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.
California Avenue, between Luis Estrada Road and the northern City limit.
4th Street, between Elm Avenue and California Avenue.
Pennsylvania Avenue, between Interstate 10 and the northern City limit.
Oak Valley Parkway, between Beaumont Avenue and the eastern City limit.
Highland Springs Avenue, between Interstate 10 and northern City limit.
Beaumont Avenue, between Interstate 10 and Oak Valley Parkway.
All local roads that primarily serve residential communities.

10.52.040 - Exceptions.¶
The provisions of this Chapter shall not apply to trucks performing local deliveries or local pickups to or from destinations located on the restricted streets, provided no reasonable alternative route exists; trucks owned or operated by a public utility, public agency, or municipality engaged in construction, maintenance, or emergency operations; emergency vehicles as defined under California law; transit vehicles, including buses operated by public transit agencies; or garbage collection, postal service, and other essential municipal service vehicles.

10.52.050 - Signage.¶
Appropriate signage indicating the truck restrictions in this Chapter shall be installed by the City at all affected street entrances to provide notice to drivers, in accordance with Caltrans and California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) standards. Enforcement of the prohibition shall commence upon installation of said signage.

10.52.060 - Violation—Penalty.¶
In the discretion of the Enforcement Officer, any person violating the provisions of this Chapter 10.52 shall be issued an administrative citation pursuant to Beaumont Municipal Code Sections 1.17.100 et seq., or shall be guilty of an infraction pursuant to Beaumont Municipal Code Section 1.16.010. In either case, the amount of the fine shall be in the appropriate amount set forth in Section 1.16.030 of this Code. Each such violation shall be deemed a separate offense as specified in Beaumont Municipal Code Section 1.16.040.
