Sec. 8.16.010. - Status defined.¶
Dogs specially trained for or by the police department and used exclusively by the department and officers thereof are hereby declared to be regarded in the same manner as special and personal equipment of the police department.

Sec. 8.16.020. - Admission to public inns, etc.¶
Officers of the police department, when accompanied by dogs referred to in section 8.16.010, shall be afforded the same treatment as blind persons and their guide dog, signal dog, or service dog as such terms are defined in Civil Code § 54.1, especially trained for the purpose. The officers and their dogs shall not be denied admittance to any hotel, motel, public inn, public cafe or bar, public elevator or other similar place within the city when admission is in the line of duty of any such officer.

Sec. 8.16.030. - Maltreatment by others prohibited.¶
It is unlawful for any person to willfully or maliciously torture, tease, torment, beat, kick, strike, mutilate, injure, disable or kill any dog used by the police department in the performance of any of the functions or duties of the department, officer or member.
