Sec. 54-1. - Official map adopted.¶
That certain map, entitled "Official Map of the System of Numbering Buildings in the City, Prepared by William H. Kirkgaard, City Engineer, March, 1958" and on file in the office of the city engineer, is adopted as the official map of the system of numbering all buildings within the city, and all buildings shall be numbered in accordance with the system of numbering shown and delineated upon the official map.

Sec. 54-2. - Street numbering system by direction.¶
All numbers on the southerly and easterly sides of streets shall be even numbers and all numbers on the northerly and westerly sides of streets shall be odd numbers. All portions of east-west streets lying east of Azusa Avenue shall be designated "east" and all portions thereof lying west of Azusa Avenue shall be designated "west." All portions of north-south streets lying north of First Street or the prolongation thereof shall be designated "north," and all portions thereof lying south of First Street or any prolongation thereof shall be designated "south." Such designation may be omitted on streets to which only one such designation applies.

Sec. 54-3. - Numbering of buildings.¶
All entrances from the public streets in the city to buildings within the city shall be numbered as provided in sections 54-1 and 54-2. The number of each and every entrance shall be placed upon or immediately above the door or gate closing the entrance or if the entrance consists of an open gateway then upon some post, pillar or other prominent place at or near the entrance or gateway. Each figure of the number shall be at least three inches in height and of corresponding width and shall be distinct and legible. The appropriate number of any building shall be placed within 30 days after the receipt by the owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant of the building of a notice from the director of public works of the number designated for such building; and all numbers other than the numbers provided for in this section for the respective entrances shall be removed from the building by the owners, occupants, lessees, tenants or subtenants thereof within 30 days from the service of the notice designating the appropriate numbers to be placed thereon.
