Atwater Municipal Code Ch. 12.16 House Numbers

All space and house numbering within the City shall henceforth be in conformity with the numbering shown and indicated upon that certain map prepared by the City Engineer and accepted on January 5, 1959, by the Council as the "Official House Numbering Map" for the City, which map, together with true copies thereof, is on file in the City Records.

A. All entrances to buildings and enclosures form the public streets of the City must be numbered in conformity with the Official House Numbering Map and the duty of so numbering the same is hereby imposed upon the owner and also upon the occupant of the building or enclosure to which any such entrance belongs or appertains.

B. The appropriate numbers in figures not less than two inches high must be placed upon the building or enclosure or in some conspicuous place visible form the street in front thereof.

All owners or occupants of buildings or enclosures form the public streets of the City shall remove immediately any numbers which do not conform with the numbering required by this chapter and shall cause numbers to be placed upon the buildings or enclosures conforming to this chapter. Upon the failure to do so, such person shall be guilty of a violation of this chapter.

No person shall willfully remove or destroy or mutilate any number placed upon any building or enclosure in conformity with this chapter without immediately replacing it with another such number.

It shall be the responsibility of the Building Inspector to enforce all of the provisions of this chapter.
