22-21.1 - Erection and Maintenance of Wooden Awnings.¶
No person, firm, or corporation shall erect or cause to be erected any wooden awning which shall project over any sidewalk or portions of a sidewalk or street of the City.

22-21.2 - Removal of Unsafe Awnings.¶
Every person, firm or corporation owning, occupying or controlling any building within the fire limits of the City, in front of which a wooden awning which is unsafe or in a dangerous condition projects over the sidewalk or a portion of the street, shall cause the same to be removed within seven (7) days after being notified so to do by the Superintendent of Streets.

22-21.3 - Regulating Altitudes of Awnings, Etc.¶
No person shall construct an awning or any other projection, or suffer the same to remain, at an altitude of less than seven and one-half (7 ½′) feet, over any sidewalk in front of premises owned, occupied, or controlled by him/her in the City.

22-21.4 - Throwing Hard Substances on Stone Sidewalks.¶
No person shall throw any hard substance or material upon or against any public stone or artificial stone sidewalk in the City.

22-21.5 - Obstruction of Sidewalk by Boxes, Etc.¶
a. No person shall place or cause to be placed anywhere upon any public street, way or sidewalk in the City, and no person owning, occupying, or having control of any premises shall suffer to remain in front thereof upon the sidewalk, or portion of the street or way next to such premises, any boxes, bales, barrels, wood, lumber, goods, wares and merchandise, or any other thing obstructing the free use or passage of such street, way or sidewalk. Provided, however, that (i) any person may display goods, wares and merchandise on that portion of the sidewalk within two and one-half (2½) feet from his/her property line, (ii) goods, wares and merchandise in transit may be allowed on the outer three (3') feet of the sidewalk for a period not exceeding three (3) hours and (iii) a person may place a Portable Freestanding Sign in compliance with Section 30-6.7.u.
b. Exceptions. The provisions of paragraph a. shall not apply to any obstruction or encroachment upon issuance of a revocable encroachment permit by the Superintendent of Streets. The Superintendent of Streets may grant the encroachment permit taking into consideration the utilities underground and the safety, planning requirements, and needs of the City. Before issuing an encroachment permit the Superintendent of Streets shall find that the permit will not substantially interfere with the public health, safety or welfare. In granting the permit the Superintendent of Streets may attach such terms and conditions as he/she deems necessary to carry out the intent of this paragraph. The decision of the Superintendent of Streets may be appealed to the City Council by submitting a letter to the City Clerk within ten (10) days of the decision.

22-21.6 - Fees.¶
All persons issued a permit under subsection 22-21.5b, other than City Departments, shall pay costs necessary for the inspection of the work done by the persons as set forth herein:
a. Basic fee.
b. Projects requiring only routine checking.
c. All other projects/per each hour of inspection time.
The amounts shall be set by City Council Resolution.

22-21.7 - Protection of Curbing.¶
No person shall cause any vehicle, or any motor vehicle to pass over any wooden or cement sidewalk curb in the City, unless the curb is guarded so as to be protected from injury.
