5.24.010 - Definitions.¶
"Kennel" as used in this chapter means any place where more than five dogs are kept or maintained for breeding purposes, training, treating, sale or other commercial purposes.
"Owner" as used in this chapter means any person, firm, or corporation keeping or maintaining any kennel.

5.24.020 - Violation—Penalty.¶
Any person, firm, or corporation who violates any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction is punishable by a fine not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00) or imprisonment in county jail for a period not exceeding ten days, or both.

5.24.030 - Kennel license required.¶
Every person, firm or corporation owning or controlling a kennel within the unincorporated territory of the county shall, within ten days after commencing to keep or maintain a kennel, and each year thereafter on the anniversary date of such license, procure from the director of field services a kennel license.

5.24.040 - Fee and penalty.¶
Each applicant for a kennel license shall pay a fee in the amount established by resolution of the board of supervisors which fee is in lieu of any fee imposed for dog licenses by Title 5 of this code. Any person who fails to procure a kennel license shall, in addition to any other penalty, be subject to a penalty in the amount established by resolution of the board of supervisors which shall be added to the license fee and collected herewith.

5.24.050 - Certificate signed by county health officer—Required before license is issued.¶
No kennel license shall be issued without a current certificate signed by the county health officer first having been obtained that the kennel is operated or is to be operated in accordance with this chapter.

5.24.060 - Use permit.¶
Required before license is issued. No kennel license shall be issued without a use permit, if any is required, by Title 17 of this code.

5.24.070 - Dog removed from kennel—License tag must be acquired.¶
When any dog is removed from a kennel and is kept at any place in the unincorporated territory of the county, other than kennel, the owner shall obtain a license tag for the dog pursuant to Title 5 of the code, within ten days after its removal from the kennel.

5.24.080 - Director of field services—Duties.¶
The director of field services shall issue kennel licenses to applicants who have met requirements of this chapter upon the payment to him of the fees and penalties prescribed by this chapter.

5.24.090 - Kennel license not transferable.¶
No kennel license issued pursuant to this chapter is transferable.

5.24.100 - Lost or destroyed license to be replaced.¶
If any kennel license is lost or destroyed, a new kennel license shall be procured within ten days from the director of field services upon the payment of the fee established by resolution of the board of supervisors.

5.24.110 - Inspection.¶
A. Kennel licenses issued pursuant to this chapter shall be surrendered for inspection by the licensee upon demand by the county health officer, or his deputies, the director, or any peace officer.
B. Any premise licensed as a dog kennel pursuant to this chapter may be inspected by any of the officials enumerated in subsection A of this section at any reasonable hour.

5.24.120 - Construction and maintenance.¶
A. No dog kennel shall be constructed until the locations and plans have been approved by the county health officer.
B. Every dog kennel shall be maintained in a manner satisfactory to the county health officer.
