SECTION 1. PURPOSE

This revenue procedure provides procedures under § 446 of the Internal Revenue Code (Code) and § 1.446–1(e) of the Income Tax Regulations (Regulations) to obtain consent of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue (Commissioner) to change a method of accounting for recognizing income for federal income tax purposes when the change is a result of, or directly related to, adoption of the new financial accounting standards for recognizing revenue by the taxpayer and is made for the same taxable year as the adoption of the new financial accounting standards for recognizing revenue that were issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
