.02 Small Case Standards . A taxpayer may file an abbreviated request for competent authority assistance in accordance with this section if the total proposed adjustment involved in the matter is not greater than the following:

In these cases, taxpayers will be advised to contact the U.S. competent authority office. In appropriate cases, the U.S. competent authority will advise the Industry or Area Director or IRS Appeals office on appropriate action. The U.S. competent authority may request the taxpayer to provide the information described under sections 4.05 and 4.07 of this revenue procedure. Failure to request competent authority assistance may result in denial of correlative relief with respect to the issue, including applicable foreign tax credits.
