Enter the first 10 characters of the Preparer's Telephone Number from the Preparer's area of the return, or from the stamp, label, or written below the Preparer's area.

A-Z and 0-9 are valid.

If two telephone numbers are present, enter the first 10 characters of the first complete telephone number.

Ignore blanks and special characters.

Disregard a leading "1" or "011" , hyphens (-), and parentheses [()].

Do not enter the telephone number if it is incomplete (not at least 10 characters), any characters are illegible, or if all the characters are the same.
