Sec. 5-14.101. Definitions: Scope.¶
For the purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in this chapter are defined in this article. (§ 1, Ord. 661, eff. January 12, 1972)
Sec. 5-14.102. Private patrol enterprise defined.¶
“Private patrol enterprise” shall mean, for any consideration whatsoever, agreeing to furnish, or furnishing, a watchman, guard, patrolman, or other person to protect persons or property, or to prevent the theft, unlawful taking, loss, embezzlement, misappropriation, or concealment of any goods, wares, merchandise, money, bonds, stocks, notes, documents, papers, or property of any kind, or performing the service of such watchman, guard, patrolman, or any other person for any of such purposes. Sec. 5-14.103. Exempt employee defined.¶
“Exempt employee” shall mean an employee of a private patrol enterprise who is:
(a) Engaged exclusively in stenographic, typing, filing, and clerical work; and
(b) Engaged in private patrol work other than street patrol work, activities, and services. (§ 1, Ord. 661, eff. January 12, 1972, as amended by § 1, Ord. 685, eff. September 12, 1973, and § 1, Ord. 702, eff. April 17, 1974)
Sec. 5-14.104. Nonexempt employee defined.¶
“Nonexempt employee” shall mean any employee of a private patrol enterprise, other than an exempt employee, and shall include those employees who engage in street patrol work or activity. Sec. 5-14.105. Public information.¶
All applications, supplementary statements, and the information contained therein or annexed thereto shall be public records. (§ 1, Ord. 661, eff. January 12, 1972)
Sec. 5-14.106. Confidential information.¶
The lists of employers or clients required by this chapter, and any information set forth therein or annexed thereto, shall be deemed to be records of investigations conducted by the County for law enforcement or licensing purposes, and shall not be public records, and shall remain confidential. Sec. 5-14.107. Street patrol defined.¶
“Street patrol” work or activity shall mean that work or activity for or on behalf of a private patrol enterprise of walking or operating a motor vehicle on or about, or in any way patrolling, the public streets, highways, or thoroughfares in the County as a security, surveillance, or guard service.
