2.16.010 - General municipal election date.

Pursuant to Government Code Section 36503.5, the general municipal election date of the city is changed from the second Tuesday in April in each even numbered year to the same day as the Statewide General Election in even numbered years.

2.16.020 - Voting precinct.

For all municipal elections held after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, there shall be one consolidated precinct, comprising all of the territory within the boundaries of the city. Such consolidated precinct shall consist of all portions of county and city precincts lying within the corporate limits of the city.

2.16.030 - Polling place—Election officials.

The city council shall, at least thirty-five (35) days before any election, by resolution, designate the polling place, the hours the same shall remain open, the names of the persons appointed as precinct election officials or officers. The city clerk shall maintain a register of applicants for election officers, and in the event that no persons apply, or an insufficient number of persons apply, or it is not deemed by the council to be in the best interests of city to appoint any applicant, any person who is a qualified voter of the city may be appointed as an election official. Oral applications may be received as a part of the register, at the time of appointment of the officers.

The locations for polling places shall be held in locations that can accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities to participate.

2.16.040 - Failure to perform election duties.

Should the city council or any officer of the city fail, or appear about to fail to, do any duty enjoined upon him or by law with regard to any election, the city clerk is empowered to do said act.

2.16.050 - Provisions directory only.

The provisions of Sections 2.16.020 through 2.16.050 are directory only, and the failure to do any required act shall not invalidate or impair the conduct or validity of any election. If at any time any provision of said sections shall become in conflict with any state law regulating any election, to that extent said sections shall not have any force or validity.
