9.84.005 - Definitions.¶
For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms are defined as set out in this section:
"Supervised" means having a person over the age of eighteen whose only responsibility it is to watch, oversee, direct and control the exempt activities of a minor person or persons as set forth in Section 9.84.040 of this chapter. Provided, however, that there shall be not fewer than one supervising adult person over the age of eighteen years of age for every three minor children under the age of eighteen at each exempt activity set forth in Section 9.84.040 of this chapter.

9.84.010 - Hours designated-Eighteen-year-olds.¶
It is unlawful for any minor person under the age of eighteen years to loiter or loaf or to congregate or to be present at or to be upon any public street, way, square, park, place, building or at or in any place of business, or business house or public dancehall, or other place designed for the accommodation of the public between the hours of eleven p.m. of one day and five a.m. of the following day. Any person who has not attained his eighteenth birthday shall be deemed to be under the age of eighteen years.

9.84.020 - Hours designated-Sixteen-year-olds.¶
It is unlawful for any minor person under the age of sixteen years to loiter or loaf or to congregate or to be present at or to be upon any public street, way, square, park, place, building or at or in any place of business, or business house, or public dancehall, or other place designed for the accommodation of the public between the hours of ten p.m. of one day and five a.m. of the following day. Any person who has not attained his sixteenth birthday shall be deemed to be under the age of sixteen years.

9.84.030 - Exemptions-Minor accompanied by adult with custody.¶
The provisions of Sections 9.84.010 and 9.84.020 shall not apply to any minor who at the time mentioned in Sections 9.84.010 and 9.84.020 is accompanied by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the lawful custody of such minor.

9.84.040 - Exemption-Designated places.¶
The provisions of Section 9.84.010 and 9.84.020 do not apply to the following places: public theaters and places where supervised entertainment or play or instruction for minors under the age of eighteen is conducted; provided, however, that this exception shall apply only to minors who are in attendance at such theaters or places for the purpose of attending the entertainment, supervised entertainment, play or instruction thereby afforded.

9.84.050 - Exemption—Transit to or from excepted places.¶
The provisions of Sections 9.84.010 and 9.84.020 do not apply to any minor while engaged in going to or returning from, in direct route, the places mentioned in Section 9.84.040 and his home or other place of abode; provided, however, in the event such minor stops or loiters or loafs or congregates or deviates from such direct route this exception shall not apply and the provisions of Sections 9.84.010 and 9.84.020 shall then apply.

9.84.060 - Exemption—Transit to or from employment.¶
The provisions of Sections 9.84.010 and 9.84.020 do not apply to any minor who is lawfully employed, or to such a minor while engaged in going to or returning from his place of employment in a direct route between such place of employment and his place of abode.

9.84.070 - Violation—Misdemeanor.¶
Any minor violating the terms of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor.

9.84.080 - Violation—Institution of proceedings.¶
Any minor violating the provisions of this chapter may be immediately apprehended and lawfully detained and appropriate proceedings may be instituted under and pursuant to the provisions of the Juvenile Court Law as set forth in the Welfare and Institutions Code of the state.

9.84.090 - Violation—Penalty.¶
parent, guardian, or other adult person having the lawful custody, permanent or temporary, of any minor person who suffers or permits or lets, either wilfully or negligently, such minor to violate the provisions of this chapter, is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished according to the provisions contained in Section 1.12.010.
