§ 1.02.010. Adoption.¶
There is adopted the recodified "Walnut Municipal Code," as compiled, edited and published by Quality Code Publishing (QCP), Seattle, Washington ("the code"), to replace, in its entirety, the Walnut Municipal Code in effect on the date the ordinance codified in this chapter is adopted (the "prior WMC").

§ 1.02.020. Title—Citation—Reference.¶
This code shall be known as the "Walnut Municipal Code" and it shall be sufficient to refer to this code as the "Walnut Municipal Code," or "the WMC" in any prosecution for the violation of any provision of this code or in any proceeding at law or equity. It is sufficient to designate any ordinance adding to, amending, correcting or repealing all or any part or portion of this code as an addition to, amendment to, correction of, or repeal of the code. References may be made to the titles, chapters, sections and subsections of this code and such references shall apply to those titles, chapters, sections or subsections as they appear in the code.

§ 1.02.030. Reference applies to all amendments.¶
Whenever a reference is made to this code as the Walnut Municipal Code, the code, the WMC, or to any portion thereof, or to any ordinance of the City of Walnut codified in the code, the reference shall apply to all amendments, corrections and additions heretofore, now, or hereafter made.

§ 1.02.050. Reference to specific ordinances.¶
The provisions of this code shall not in any manner affect matters of record which refer to, or are otherwise connected with, ordinances which are therein specifically designated by number or otherwise and which are included within the code, but such reference shall be construed to apply to the corresponding provisions contained within the code.

§ 1.02.060. Ordinances passed prior to adoption of the code.¶
The last ordinance included in this code was Ordinance 18-04, adopted on April 11, 2018.

§ 1.02.070. Effect of code on past actions and obligations.¶
The adoption of this code does not affect prosecutions for ordinance violations committed prior to the effective date of the code, does not waive any fee or penalty due and unpaid on the effective date of the code, and does not affect the validity of any bond or cash deposit posted, filed or deposited pursuant to the requirements of any ordinance.

§ 1.02.080. Constitutionality—Severability.¶
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this code or amendments thereto are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this code shall be declared invalid or unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of a court of competent jurisdiction, then such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this code.

§ 1.02.090. References to prior WMC.¶
Unless otherwise expressly stated or the context requires, references in City forms, documents, and regulations to the chapters, sections, and provisions of the prior WMC shall be construed to apply to the corresponding chapters, sections, and provisions contained within the code.
