§ 9.08.010. Recruitment and training of peace officers—Declaration of City to qualify…

The City declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the State under the provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the State Penal Code.

§ 9.08.020. City to adhere to State standards.

Pursuant to Section 13522 of such Chapter 1, the City, while receiving aid from the State pursuant to such Chapter 1, will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established as minimums by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Nothing contained in this chapter shall be deemed to limit the City from establishing or maintaining more stringent or additional standards beyond those established as minimums by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

§ 9.08.030. Declaration of intent.

The City Council declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the State of California under the provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code for training of public safety dispatchers.

§ 9.08.040. Training of public safety dispatchers.

Pursuant to Sections 13522 and 13525 of said Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code, the City of Vernon, while receiving aid from the State of California will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training of public safety dispatchers established as minimums by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Nothing contained in this section shall be deemed to limit the City of Vernon from establishing or maintaining more stringent or additional standards beyond those established as minimums by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

§ 9.08.050. Application for funding for corrections officer.

A. The Chief of Police is authorized to file an application for funding from the California Board of Corrections for corrections officer selection and training. With the consent of the City Council, the Chief of Police may file notice of withdrawal from such program.

B. While receiving State aid pursuant to Article 3, "Corrections Training Fund," of Chapter 5 of Title 7 of Part 3 of the Penal Code of the State of California (commencing with Section 6040), the City of Vernon will adhere to the standards for selection and training of corrections officers established by the California Board of Corrections.
