Vernon Municipal Code Ch. 10.12 Speed Limits

A. Pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22357, the City Council hereby determines and declares that the prima facie speed limit on the following streets shall be 45 miles per hour:

1. Bandini Boulevard from Soto Street to the eastern boundary.

2. Washington Boulevard from the western City boundary to Downey Road and from 700 feet east of Downey Road to the eastern City boundary.

B. Every violation of this section by propelling a vehicle in excess of the speed limit provided for herein is hereby declared to be a public nuisance.

A. Pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22357, the City Council hereby determines and declares that the prima facie speed limit on the following streets shall be 40 miles per hour:

1. Alameda Street-West. The northbound lanes from the northern City boundary to the southern City boundary.

2. District Boulevard from Downey Road to Atlantic Boulevard.

3. 37th Street from Santa Fe Avenue to Soto Street.

4. Leonis Boulevard from Pacific Boulevard to Boyle Avenue.

5. Leonis Boulevard from Boyle Avenue to Downey Road.

6. Vernon Avenue from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue.

7. Pacific Boulevard from Santa Fe Avenue to the southern City boundary.

B. Every violation of this section by propelling a vehicle in excess of the speed limit provided for herein is hereby declared to be a public nuisance.

A. Pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22357, the City Council hereby determines and declares that the prima facie speed limit on the following streets shall be 35 miles per hour:

1. Alameda Street-East. The two-way street on the east side of the railroad right-of-way from the northern City boundary to the southern City boundary.

2. Atlantic Boulevard from the northern City boundary to the southern City boundary.

3. Boyle Avenue from Leonis Boulevard to Slauson Avenue and the northbound lanes from Slauson Avenue to Randolph Street.

4. District Boulevard from Atlantic Boulevard to eastern City boundary.

5. Downey Road from the northern City boundary to Fruitland Avenue and the western-most south-bound lane from Fruitland Avenue to Slauson Avenue.

6. Fruitland Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Downey Road.

7. Pennington Way from 26th Street to Bandini Boulevard.

8. Santa Fe Avenue from the northern City boundary to the southern City boundary.

9. Slauson Avenue from Boyle Avenue to Downey Road.

10. Soto Street from the northern City boundary to the southern City boundary.

11. 26th Street from Soto Street to Pennington Way.

12. 38th Street from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue.

13. 38th Street from Santa Fe Avenue to the BNSF Railroad tracks east of Santa Fe Avenue.

14. 55th Street from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue.

B. Every violation of this section by propelling a vehicle in excess of the speed limit provided for herein is hereby declared to be a public nuisance.

1. Alcoa Avenue from Vernon Avenue to Slauson Avenue.

2. Boyle Avenue from Vernon Avenue to Leonis Boulevard.

3. Fruitland Avenue from Corona Avenue to Cudahy Avenue.

4. Vernon Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Downey Road.

5. 25th Street from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue.

6. 26th Street from Santa Fe Avenue to Soto Street.

7. 37th Street from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue.

B. Every violation of this section by propelling a vehicle in excess of the speed limit provided for herein is hereby declared to be a public nuisance.
