22.140.010 Fire hydrants.¶
Fire hydrants are provided for the sole purpose of extinguishing fires and shall be opened and used only by the fire department or such persons as may be authorized so to do by the superintendent or the chief of the fire department. (Code 1971, § 4561)
22.140.020 Private fire hydrants.¶
Where a permit has been granted for private fire service or sprinkling service there shall at no time be any connection made to said service without the written consent of the superintendent. If it is found that any unauthorized connection has been made or that water from a sprinkler or fire service has been used for any other purpose than extinguishing a fire, the water service shall be shut off and not turned on again until a standard meter of the equivalent size of the service pipe shall have been installed and paid for, together with the installation charge and a sum equivalent to the monthly minimum for a similar size regular installation covering the entire period. 22.140.030 Obstructing fire hydrants.¶
No person or persons shall place upon or about a fire hydrant any object, material, debris, or structure of any kind that shall prevent free access to same at all times. (Code 1971, § 4563)
22.140.040 Fire service.¶
For a fire service installation providing for outlets on the consumer’s property for hose connections or apparatus for use in controlling fires, the charge shall be the cost as specified in Appendix A. (Code 1971, § 4564; Ord. No. 2012-014, § 16, 6-4-12)
