Chapter 2§9229 TREE PRESERVATION AND PLANTING REQUIREMENTS

§9229.1 PURPOSE

The City of Ukiah acknowledges the importance of trees to the community’s health, safety, welfare, and tranquility. Trees are a source of beauty, provide shade and other environmental benefits, enhance property values, create community identity, and generally enhance the quality of urban life. The City is committed to planting new trees as well as protecting existing trees to the greatest extent possible. The purpose of section 9229 of this code is to identify protected trees and landmark trees and to establish the tree planting requirements for street trees, parking lots, and riparian corridors, and tree protection requirements.
