§ 9.28.010 Through streets designated.

M Street, from the north line of Tulare Street to the north city limits, is hereby declared to constitute a through highway as the same is defined in the Vehicle Code of the State of California.

§ 9.28.020 Designation of streets by Police Chief.

The Chief of Police, subject to the approval of the Manager, is hereby authorized and directed to designate streets as arterial highways or boulevards, in addition to those in this chapter enumerated, whenever the public safety may require.

§ 9.28.030 Erection of signs.

The intersection of every arterial highway or boulevard, established pursuant to this chapter with every other street, shall be plainly marked with a sign visible to persons traveling along the intersecting streets upon which sign there shall be printed in legible characters the word “stop.”

§ 9.28.040 Stop intersections.

At points of intersection of two boulevards or arterial highways, as herein described, the Chief of Police shall have power to determine that stops may be required on only one thereof; and, in that event, it shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to determine and indicate, by appropriate signs, upon which thereof the stops shall be required.

§ 9.28.050 Boulevard stops enumerated.

For the purpose of this chapter, the following described streets or portions thereof are boulevard or arterial highways:

(A) Alpine Street: at east line of K Street;

(B) Blackstone Avenue: at north line of Tulare Street;

(C) Cherry Avenue: at north line of Tulare Street;

(D) Cross Avenue: east and west line at J Street;

(E) East Avenue: at south line of Tulare Street;

(F) Hospital Road: at east line of K Street;

(G) Inyo Street:

(1) South line of A Street;

(2) North and south line of B Street;

(3) North and south line of C Street;

(4) South line of California Street;

(5) North and south line of D Street;

(6) North and south line of E Street;

(7) North and south line of F Street;

(8) North and south line of G Street;

(9) North and south line of H Street;

(10) North line of Howard Street;

(11) North and south line of I Street;

(12) East and west line at J Street;

(13) East and west line at K Street;

(14) North line of Larkin Street;

(15) South line of Los Angeles Street;

(16) East and west line at O Street;

(17) North line of Road on west city limits;

(18) South line of Sacramento Street; and

(19) South line of Santa Clara Street.

(H) East line of K at Cross Avenue;

(I) Kern Street:

(1) East and west line at J Street;

(2) East and west line of K Street; and

(3) East and west line at O Street.

(J) King Street:

(1) East line at J Street; and

(2) East and west line at K Street.

(K) L Street: north and south line at Inyo Street;

(L) M Street: north and south line at Inyo Street;

(M) Madden Lane: at north line of Tulare Street;

(N) N Street: north and south line at Inyo Street;

(O) Owens Street:

(1) At east line of K Street; and

(2) At west line of O Street.

(P) Park Avenue: at north line of Tulare Street;

(Q) Solida Place: at south line of Tulare Street;

(R) San Joaquin Street:

(1) At east line of Cherry Avenue;

(2) East and west line at J Street; and

(3) East and west line at K Street.

(S) Sonora Street: at east line of K Street;

(T) Tulare Street:

(1) North and south line of A Street;

(2) North and south line of B Street;

(3) North and south line of C Street;

(4) North and south line of California Street;

(5) North and south line of D Street;

(6) North and south line of E Street;

(7) North and south line of F Street;

(8) North and south line of G Street;

(9) North and south line of H Street;

(10) North and south line of I Street;

(11) East and west line of J Street;

(12) East and west line of K Street;

(13) North and south line of L Street;

§ 9.28.060 Yield right-of-way—Designation.

The Chief of Police, subject to the approval of the Manager, is hereby authorized and directed to designate intersections of streets and highways at which a yield right-of-way sign will be erected in accordance with the provisions of Cal. Vehicle Code § 471.1.
