Sec. 1-15.01. Purpose.¶
The interests of the citizens of the City of Thousand Oaks are best served by allowing voters to choose Councilmembers for themselves. The purpose of this chapter is to ensure that members of the Thousand Oaks City Council have received the direct approval from the voters and are thus elected to their respective positions on the Council.

Sec. 1-15.02. Election to fill Council vacancy.¶
All vacancies of the Thousand Oaks City Council shall be filled through election. If a vacancy occurs on the Thousand Oaks City Council, this chapter requires that a special election be called immediately to fill the Council vacancy.

Sec. 1-15.03. Date of election to fill Council vacancy.¶
The special election called for purposes of this chapter shall be held on the next regularly established election date not less than 114 days from the call of the special election.

Sec. 1-15.04. Interim appointment.¶
A person may be appointed to fill a vacancy on the Council and this person will hold office only until the date of the special election.
