430-010 - DESTROYING SIGNS PROHIBITED

It is a misdemeanor to shoot at, alter, deface, bend, tear, damage, destroy, cover up, conceal, knock down, or remove any stop sign, speed sign, street name sign, directional sign, traffic control sign, mileage marker, traffic warning sign, traffic warning barricade flare, smudge pot, battery operated caution blinker, or other road sign or traffic warning device erected and maintained by the County of Sutter or its authorized agents on any street or county highway within the County of Sutter.

430-020 - PENALTY

A violation of this Chapter is punishable by a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) or by three months in the County Jail or by both such fine and imprisonment.

430-030 - CASH REWARD

The County of Sutter hereby offers a cash reward for the arrest and conviction of any person or persons who violate the provisions of this Chapter. This reward shall be in the amount of two hundred dollars ($200.00) and shall be payable for the conviction of each and every defendant charged with a violation of this Chapter. In the event that such reward is claimed by more than one individual, the two hundred dollars ($200.00) per convicted defendant reward shall be apportioned in accordance with the majority decision of the Road Commissioner, the Sheriff and the District Attorney of the County of Sutter acting as a committee to determine to what extent each of the various claimants contributed to the conviction of that person or persons charged with and convicted of violating this Chapter.

430-040 - SEVERABILITY

If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Chapter is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Chapter. The Board of Supervisors hereby declare that it would have passed this Chapter and each section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause and phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared unconstitutional.
